SIGAM was established in 1993. It is a family-owned company headed by the Messrs Marfè.
The family manages the company with a hands-on approach, working in strategic areas.
In truth, SIGAM can trace its roots back to the considerable experience that its founders - the brothers Antonio and Gennaro Marfè (parents to the eponymous cousins) - gained in the industry. Back in 1968, they established a modest, artisanal workshop in Naples, where they produced silencers for cars. The silencers themselves were installed and repaired in via C. Rosaroll.
From 1968 to 1974, production was closely connected to the automotives boom. The company enjoyed considerable growth and success on the local market, even though the size of its workshop, which could not be expanded, limited its production. From the beginning of the 1970s, the company became pressed to find a better location for its factory, since the site it was using had become too small to meet demand. Moreover, it needed to bring its manufacturing structure into line with new market needs.
This is why, in 1974, a company called “GAM-SUD” was established and the brothers Marfè purchased an industrial lot in Arzano (NA). Steadily and dynamically supported by their respective children, the brothers put in place a technically organised industrial complex for the production of silencers and exhaust manifolds. After a few years and thanks to the company's growing success - first on the regional and later on the national market - the factory soon became too diminutive for the owners’ plans for future development. Since the manufacturing structures in existence at the time could not be expanded because there was no more land available that could be built on, the family decided to create a new industrial complex that could fully meet its growing market - and therefore production - needs during the first few years of the 1990s.
Following the positive results the company had achieved, the Messrs Marfè undertook a new initiative for development. For several years now, they have been present in the industrial area of Marcianise (Caserta). The area is easily accessible and is located near the exit of the motorway toll booth for Caserta Sud, ensuring quick, direct connections to all of the motorways as well as to major state roads, the airport, railway stations, and, last but not least, the port of Naples. The Messrs Marfè are genuinely determined to achieve ever more significant results in terms of quality, with the use of the latest technology, as well as of select materials, in order to become one of the leading companies in the sector.
